Dear old John suggested a wonderful journey hoping we could go elsewhere, but the museum was closed, the motel was full and the pub couldn’t take us. I thank dear old John for his help and hope he is drying his eyes, and decides to come along all the same.
So, what are we doing? We’re heading off to Walhalla to start with where we will enjoy lunch.

Walhalla is a wonderful old gold mining town still featuring many of the old homes which are still occupied, and in some cases available for overnight accommodation. The town also has many of features of its gold mining history on display, not as a pastiche of its past but the real thing. It’s a place to walk around. We will enjoy lunch and then travel on the Walhalla Goldfields Railway which travels through some amazing and spectacular gorges.
After that adventure we will travel down through southern Gippsland before stopping overnight and dining at the Prom Country Lodge, Foster.
The next day we will head back towards Melbourne stopping for lunch en route (at your expense)
